Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia––President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. chaired the 16th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit on May 27. This significant event marked the BIMP-EAGA’s 30th anniversary. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque accompanied the President, actively supporting the Philippines' national development agenda.

Focusing on forging greater synergy among member states to realize the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025, the President called for accelerated efforts to transform the sub-region into a resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and economically competitive area.

Secretary Roque played a crucial role in reinforcing these priorities, focusing on enhancing trade facilitation and promoting investments in strategic sectors within BIMP-EAGA's economic corridors.
