Victoria, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through its designated Representative, supervised a grand raffle draw on January 13, 2025, in Biñan City, Laguna, to ensure that the said sales promotion activity was conducted in accordance with the approved mechanics and adhered to relevant laws, rules, and regulations including the Republic Act No. 7394 (RA 7394), otherwise known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines, the DTI Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2, Series of 1993, and the DTI DAO No. 10-02, Series of 2010.

This regular monitoring activity aligns with the Department’s mandate to protect consumers from deceptive advertisements and fraudulent sales promotion practices, as outlined in the RA 7394. As defined in the RA 7394, a sales promotion is a technique to increase the sales, patronage, and/or goodwill of a product and contains “promises of gain” such as prizes or free items as reward for the purchase of a product or service.

Furthermore, RA 7394 also provides that an establishment that wishes to conduct sales promotion activities shall first secure a permit from the DTI prior to the commencement of their sales promotion activities. Common sales promotion schemes include, but not limited to, discounts or price reduction, premium, raffle, competition, and/or contest.

For sales promotion activities to be implemented within the Province of Laguna, applications for sales promotion permit can be submitted directly to DTI-Laguna located in Victoria, Laguna.
