Jeju, South Korea—Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque participated at the special ASEAN-APEC Ministerial Caucus on May 15.

In the meeting, ASEAN-APEC Ministers discussed regional and national responses to global economic challenges. During her remarks, Secretary Roque reaffirmed the Philippines’ firm commitment to regional economic cooperation and free trade. “More than ever, ASEAN must stand united as a stabilizing force and proactive partner in shaping the evolving global order,” Secretary Roque underlined.

The trade chief also reiterated the country’s support for the expansion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as a cornerstone of ASEAN’s pursuit of a more resilient, competitive, and inclusive ASEAN economy.
