Toronto, Canada – The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Toronto (PTIC Toronto), the overseas trade and investment promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has strengthened Filipinos’ ties to home by supporting the launch of the Seafood City+ App and Rewards Program in Toronto on February 26.

The launching of the Seafood City+ App connects users in Canada with a wide range of Philippine brands and services, enabling them to shop and earn rewards while supporting businesses back home. The points accumulated from partner brands can be redeemed as grocery items at any of Seafood City’s five locations across Canada.

PTIC Toronto Trade Commissioner Mario C. Tani emphasized Seafood City’s role as a strategic partner in bringing innovative and high-quality Philippine products to Canada. He stated, “Seafood City continues to be a key ally in the Philippines’ thrust to bring in more innovative and exciting products from the Philippines into Canada. This is in line with DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque’s priority to leverage digital transformation in advancing the country’s economic growth. It is most important to work together to cultivate opportunities to grow our sectors, products and services, and support Philippine industries.”

With over one million Filipinos in Canada, the demand for authentic Filipino products and services continues to rise. To bridge this gap, Seafood City plans to double its store locations in Canada in the next two years.

PTIC Toronto, together with the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto (PCG-Toronto), remain committed to supporting their private partners including, Seafood City, Jollibee, Penshoppe, Philippine Airlines, Ideal Vision, SM, ABS-CBN (TFC), BDO, Regatta, Shakey’s, Oxygen, and DITO Telecom among others, in developing linkages and extending the brands’ market reach – further solidifying the presence of Filipino products internationally.
