The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Guangzhou (PTIC-Guangzhou) and the Foreign Trade Service Corps (FTSC), welcomed the expansion into the Philippines of Wondfo, a leading manufacturer of point-of-care tests (POCT) providing rapid diagnostic and chronic disease management solutions, during the inauguration of its Philippines subsidiary last 23 April 2025.
The opening of Wondfo Biotech Philippines Inc. is the first branch establishment of the Guangzhou-based company in Southeast Asia, marking its official expansion in the country to help enhance healthcare innovation and strengthen biotechnology partnerships between the Philippines and China.
Leading the opening ceremony held in their BGC office was Professor Wang Jihua, Founder of Wondfo Biotech Inc. In her address, Professor Wang emphasized the significance of the milestone, describing it as “a new chapter in our company’s growth.” She expressed pride in bringing Wondfo’s expertise and experience to the Philippines, a nation she praised for its warmth, dynamic economy, and promising future.
Wang reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in the country’s potential by fostering strong partnerships and creating meaningful impact in the lives of Filipinos.
Wondfo Biotech is a leading player in POCT in China and is known for its strong focus on research and development, manufacturing, and the delivery of rapid diagnostic solutions. Ranked among the top 100 medical device companies by sales in 2022, Wondfo continues to expand its global presence and is working to establish training and service centers in the Philippines as part of its commitment to developing local talent and expertise.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was facilitated by Mr. Mark Xu, Vice President; Mr. Philip Liu, Senior Director for International Sales and Marketing; and Ethan Wu, Country Manager for the Philippines.
Also in attendance were Mr. Yang Guoliang, Minister Counsellor, Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Philippines, accompanied by Ms. Zhao Chen, Second Secretary; Ms. Lesly Kray M. Cortez and Mr. Reimund Carlos D. Navarro from the FTSC, along with representatives from the Philippines’ top medical associations, partner distributors, and medical experts.
