The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its E-Commerce Bureau (ECB), welcomes the strong show of support from leading e-commerce platforms: Lazada Philippines, Shopee Philippines, and TikTok Shop for the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, a landmark initiative under compliance with the Republic Act No. 11967 (RA1167), or the Internet Transactions Act (ITA).
In a statement, Lazada Philippines lauded the launch of the Trustmark, calling it a “landmark addition to the consumer protection blueprint” of the ITA. The platform affirmed its continued collaboration with the DTI saying that its “long-standing engagement in the law’s working groups underscores Lazada’s belief that collaboration between industry and regulators fuels a thriving digital economy.”
Shopee Philippines, for its part, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the DTI’s efforts to cultivate a safer and more transparent digital marketplace. “We appreciate the DTI’s continued efforts to strengthen trust in online transactions, and we remain committed to working together on initiatives that protect consumers, uplift local sellers, and advance digital inclusion across the country.”
As for TikTok Shop, “We remain committed to enabling a safe and vibrant marketplace where micro, small and medium enterprises can thrive.” TikTok Shop lauds the DTI “for the e-Commerce Trustmark initiative and looks forward to our continued collaboration to empower local sellers and businesses.”
The three e-commerce platforms also expressed their commitment to actively supporting campaign awareness initiatives related to the Trustmark by providing avenues within their platforms to amplify information and education efforts. Their ongoing engagement with the DTI ECB, through regular dialogues and coordinated activities, reflects their overall support for the ITA and its consumer protection mechanisms.
The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark serves as a digital badge of credibility, integrity and safety for online businesses that comply with consumer protection and fair trade standards—a key element of the ITA’s comprehensive consumer protection framework.
The DTI is committed to onboarding more digital platforms, online merchants, e-marketplaces and e-retailers into the Trustmark certification system in the coming months, further reinforcing the country’s move toward a trustworthy and secure digital economy.
