To aid existing and potential entrepreneurs of Calamba City, the Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry in Laguna (DTI Laguna) conducted a Seminar on How to Effectively Participate in Trade Fair cum Consumer Rights and Responsibilities on February 6, 2025, at the Jose Rizal Coliseum, Brgy. Real, Calamba City, Laguna. This is in partnership with the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department of the City Government of Calamba.
The program began with the keynote speech of the Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist, Ms. Phoebe Cervantes, where she discussed the importance of participating in trade fairs. She also mentioned that the entrepreneurs who joined the Trade Fair at City Hall achieved a gross sale of over 5 million pesos, excluding those who participated in malls they have supported. According to her, trade fairs serve as a platform to introduce products and build connections through the program, which can lead to business success.
The first part of the seminar, led by DTI Laguna’s Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Ms. Michelle Caymo, focused on the essential requirements for participating in a trade fair, along with the dos and donts. She concluded by highlighting the significance of marketing their product through various platforms, such as social media, to inform acquaintances and potential customers about their participation in the Trade Fair and enhance their chances of being noticed.

To further educate participants about their rights and responsibilities as consumers, Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Ms. Marian Calongcalong conducted a discussion on Consumer Education. Given that participants interact with multiple suppliers, it is crucial for them to safeguard their rights while also fulfilling their responsibilities as consumers. Moreover, understanding these aspects ensures they do not infringe upon the rights of their own customers.
A total of twenty-one (21) potential and existing microentrepreneurs attended the seminar, which received a majority of Very Satisfactory ratings (MOCalongcalong, DTI-Laguna). ♦
