DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque visits a booth at the "Diskwento Caravan: Balik-Eskwela Edition" in Muntinlupa City, showcasing discounted school supplies and food items offered by MSMEs ahead of the new school year.

Muntinlupa City, Philippines—Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque spearheaded the “Diskwento Caravan: Balik-Eskwela Edition” opening on June 13. This nationwide initiative is designed to provide Filipino families with access to quality school essentials and key “baon” staples at affordable prices ahead of the new academic year.

“In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, the Diskwento Caravan, a flagship initiative of the DTI, brings essential goods directly to communities through strong partnerships with manufacturers and distributors,” said DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque.

“By offering products below suggested retail prices—and even in value-packed bundles—we make quality items more accessible to Filipino families while supporting the everyday needs of our consumers,” she added.

The trade chief toured the caravan and visited the booths of 10 participating micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These enterprises offered a variety of discounted items, including school bags, notebooks and stationery, school shoes, hygiene products, sliced meats, and breads.

Through initiatives like the Diskwento Caravan, the DTI reinforces its commitment to delivering affordable, quality goods to Filipino consumers, advancing inclusive growth and fulfilling its mandate under the “Bagong Pilipinas vision.” ♦
